Hypercerts x Algovera

This is a thread to discuss and perhaps implement the idea of Algovera leveraging Hypercerts.

Hypercerts are a tool to build scalable reward systems for impact. By using hypercerts, the Algovera’s process and projects become part of a broader ecosystem of funding and impact evaluation.

See https://hypercerts.xyz/ (especially the documentation website). Currently,

  • the hypercert system is not yet deployed on mainnet
  • an hypercert is a fractional NFT which has contributors, scope of work, time period of work, scope of impact, time period of impact, rights.

Some approach ideas

Disclaimer: I just discovered Algovera and still uncertainy about how it works, so these specific ideas might not be calibrated.

A) Each proposal mints an hypercert. If a project is accepted by the Algovera decision mechanism, Algovera buys it (or a fraction). In the fractional case, it additionally allows a project to have other sources of funding via other shares being bought by other mechanisms. Being explicit about the (anticipated) scope and period of impact helps impact evaluators and funders (prospective or retrospective).

B) Retrospective evaluation process. Currently, Algovera’s process is only prospective. As it proceeds, a number of projects are generated and some are given a grant. An actor willing to evaluate Algovera’s process and the resulting funded projects is left to their own devices (e.g. find successful past projects). A retrospective evaluation process would produce an impact analysis of granted projects and give retrospective funding. For example, every 1/n grant cycle, it would produce an impact analysis of a subset of past projects.
